From those I walk along side

"Anna-Marie offers so much as an educator and a leader but she is also just a really lovely, fun, thoughtful and kind person. She brings herself to school, sharing her life and her passions with pride. She tears-up during student presentations, could probably run a marathon in a dress with high heels and enjoys a beer after work with her colleagues. I would work again with Anna-Marie in the blink of an eye and I feel that all those who have worked with her would agree with me."

"I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was a student of yours in 2010 at TNIS. I'm 18 now and about to finish high school. I've been doing some time reflecting on the past, and have been thinking about some of the people who've inspired me over the years. I wanted to say thank you for something in particular. You gave me a great love of debating which I carried into my high school years, and lead me to become quite fond of public speaking. I can remember you once asking me about the meaning of a poem, only for me to reply that maybe there was no meaning
and that the words had simply fallen into place because they could. I have since gone on with my love of public speaking to become a passionate spoken word poet, something which I love and adore. I'm going to start university
next year, where I plan to study English, Film, Philosophy and Creative writing. I just wanted to say thank you once
again for sending me in this direction.

"Anna-Marie McAleer is an exemplary teacher; she is truly an outstanding professional who is committed to continuous improvement of her craft. At Branksome Hall, Anna-Marie played a critical role in introducing our literacy assessment and intervention model. She continually linked her research to her practice and everyone benefited. Branksome now has a literacy intervention program that is ensuring that all students
meet our targets for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Anna-Marie was instrumental in introducing our balanced literacy model. In addition, Anna-Marie utilized action research focused on literacy assessment in her own literacy practice and helped to introduce action research to our junior school faculty. Involvement with action research has continued to grow and flourish. Anna–Marie also took a leadership role in sharing our approaches with the parent community. Her communication skills are also exemplary and parents were both informed and reassured by her presentation."

"The greatest asset that Anna-Marie brings to her leadership is the empathy that she has for all learners. Her ability to get the best out of people is honest. She is comfortable setting expectations and scaffolding them through to success. This applies equally to University student teachers, as it does for pupils and colleagues. Learners develop agency through a learning environment that is always differentiated and collaborative."

"My son has a speech phobia that hinders speech at school with both members of staff and students. Related to this, are special considerations, which require understanding and management. I remain grateful for the initiatives that Ms McAleer took, to accommodate my child, well within the norms, policies and limitations of the school. Concisely, her plans, and their implementation for creating a suitable learning environment for my son, prevented any potential inferiority complex within him, as a student who chooses not to speak with the school."

"As a colleague, and professional leader, I have always found Anna-Marie to be collegial and friendly, whilst displaying a high level of integrity. She is always willing to help support in whatever tasks are asked of her, and is pre-emptive in ensuring that things run efficiently and in an organised manner.
She has an engaging personality and genuinely cares about those around her. She takes time to get to know, and seeks to understand, the perspectives of others. She is able to empower others and form collaborative relationships through excellent communication skills and a commitment to a culture of coaching."
